Julia’s Brother: Julia, I thought I told you to stay away from my – [Art kills him with an axe]
Tale
Art the Clown will unleash chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they fall asleep peacefully on Christmas Eve. Director Damien Leone said that several major studios expressed interest in financing the film based on the surprise success of Terrifier 2 (2022), even without a full script, but he turned them down because he was certain they would never let him film the opening scene alone, which he describes as “very controversial.” Leone commented that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in his depiction of horror and gore is because he independently finances his films, creates all of his own special effects to keep costs down, and doesn’t have a major studio hot on his heels to make the film more popular. Mia mentions that it will soon be the 5th anniversary of the original massacre, but that it took place on Halloween, and the film takes place on Christmas 5 years later, meaning the anniversary was only 2 months ago.
There is an uncensored version of the film that is 2 hours and 25 minutes long with 5 additional scenes
Features Terrifier 2 (2022). Artwork By Drew Fulk, Joe Occhiuti, Paul Wiley, Spencer Charnas, and Steve Sopchak Performers: Ice Nine Kills and Shavo Odadjian. I’ve seen parts 1 and 2 and I liked this interpretation of a new horror character to stand alongside Freddy Kruger.
The gore special effects are unbeatable and surprisingly realistic
The dark humor and crazy, creative kills continue in part 3, but at times I felt Art was imitating himself and was too self-aware and appreciative rather than organically funny. (Like the sunglasses scene in part 2.) Art’s companion was interesting, but I found her boring and at times seemed to get in the way of Art. I think Part 3 is a worthy effort to explore other avenues, but it risks sending the overall concept on a detour that could easily end the series.
I liked Parts 1 and 2 better
The final scene, which sets the stage for #4, looks like a good start. The producers have a goose that laid a few golden eggs, they have to be careful not to kill it. Art the Clown, Pennywise, and Killer Klowns are just a few of the comical creatures that send shivers down our spines.
