Tale
A grieving therapist begins telling his patients exactly what he thinks
He ignores his training and ethics and makes a huge difference in people’s lives – including his own. The cast of ‘Shrinking’ recounts the best moments that defined their characters in Season 1, and reveals who does the best impersonation of Harrison Ford. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and wanted to audition people similar to Ford. Segel told Goldstein they would have to at least suggest it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately decline, but at least other people would know Harrison Ford was tapped for the project, which sparked interest from other big-name actors.
And the rest of the show is great, too
Goldstein ended up talking to Ford and convincing him to take the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but was thrilled nonetheless.. Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023). Jason Segel is the perfect fit for this script.
And Jessica is perfect
He has the weird, idiotically confident energy required for this role. Her humor fits the dialogue just right. This is the new breed of situation dramedy. No real punchlines, just engaging personalities with a dash of quirkiness and family circumstances that are just a little beyond the norm but still relatable.
You’d lose your license in an instant
Of course, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd. Just impossible. But we allow metaphorical situations in drama. And in this script, we sense a strong sense of purpose in the choices.
Other critics apparently had difficulty
We have to give the writers the edge and try to get to the essence. For me, it’s easy and fun. The final season of What We Do in the Shadows is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month. Check out our October calendar for more!
